4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 cup marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions
 

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

    In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

      Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, dried oregano, and dried basil.

        Place the chicken breasts in the skillet and sear for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove from heat and set aside.

          In a baking dish, spread half of the marinara sauce on the bottom.

            Place the seared chicken breasts on top of the sauce. Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the chicken.

              Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the chicken.

                Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes.

                  Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 75°C).

                    Let the dish rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.
